On 15 January, a training session was held in Kyiv titled “Developing Regional Action Plans for the Implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 ‘Women, Peace and Security’ for the period up to 2030: approaches, coordination, and implementation.”

The event brought together representatives of state authorities, the expert community, and civil society to improve the quality and effectiveness of Regional Action Plans for the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1325, taking into account regional contexts, cross-sectoral coordination, and available resources.

“The quality of Regional Action Plans for the implementation of Resolution 1325 directly affects how effectively the principles of ‘Women, Peace and Security’ are implemented at the local level. The regional level is crucial for real change in communities, from security to recovery and women’s participation in decision-making. That is why we are holding this important training today. Its outcomes will form the basis of Regional Action Plans and will be implemented in your communities,” said Kateryna Levchenko.

During the training, participants discussed how to organise activities, implement measures, and report on the implementation of the National Action Plan 1325 at the regional level. Through group work, they also developed proposals for implementing the four strategic goals of NAP 1325 up to 2030, which will be taken into account in the development of new Regional Action Plans through 2030.

The programme also covered monitoring, analysed challenging situations, explored ways to improve coordination among implementers, and presented solutions that can be applied in the development of Regional Action Plans.

The event was made possible thanks to the support of the Government of the United Kingdom, provided through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, as part of the Women, Peace and Security: Working Together project, implemented by the Ukrainian Women’s Fund.
